OBA Pathway for Internationally Qualified Nurses (IQN)
If you’ve been assessed as a Stream B candidate, you’ll need to go through the Outcome Based Assessment (OBA) Program — the new pathway in Australia for internationally qualified nurses.
This program includes two qualifying exams:
NCLEX: A computer-adaptive test for nursing knowledge.
OSCE: A practical exam that’s taken in Adelaide, Australia.

To begin the process, you’ll need to provide the following documents:
- Bachelor in Nursing Completion Certificate
- Transcript of Records
- Passport
- Nursing License
- Registration Certificate
- Proof of Change of Name (if applicable)
- NCSBN Candidate Report (if applicable for US NCLEX passers)
- Resume
- Full Address
These documents must be certified according to the guidelines of AHPRA. You can refer to the AHPRA Certifying Guidelines for detailed instructions.
Additional Requirements
After successfully passing both the NCLEX and OSCE, you’ll also need to provide an English Language Score. Clinical experience is not mandatory—completing NCLEX and OSCE will fulfill the recency of practice standard.
Flexible Payment Process
You don’t need to pay all fees at once. Payments are done in stages as you progress through each step. To get started, a $500 AUD assistance fee is required, which covers full assistance from Self-check to AHPRA Registration.
